Canberra Club Triathlon Enduro 2018 – Race Report

So here it is, after spending zero training minutes the week of the race. Of which was weather and personal issue related I put in my best efforts!

Friday before race say they called the swim leg off and turned the enduro tri into a run, bike, run, bike, run. I can’t say I was completely disappointed nor can I say I was pleased with that decision, but it was what it was!

So we began with a 2km run, I was feeling good and ready. We transitioned into the first cycle leg of 6km and I feel I should have and could have gone a bit harder, not sure why I held back there. The second run of 1.8km was where struggling really began, the second bike leg of 6km I pushed hard realising there was only one run leg left.

The final run was hard I was cramping and the mental game was taking over, I dropped back a number of places at this point in the comp it was becoming too hard to push through the pain.

It was the lack of training I believe that let me down (my own fault)! I had managed a half marathon (21.1km run) the weekend prior but without a proper taper it left me a little out of tune! Still being new to the sport working out my formula and pacing is another challenge in itself.

My overall placement in this comp was 43rd out of 58, my goal time was 1hr and I completed at 1:02:03 so I am glad I was close to my goal time overall!
