Gift – Have you opened yours yet?

When you observe at Christmas, or a child’s birthday; we watch as they unwrap their gift, they then sit and play with the wrapping paper. Oblivious to the gift which was inside that wrapping; are you stuck looking at the pretty paper, enjoying and playing with the wrapping?

All of us got gifts

Whether you are a person of faith or not, we are all born with gifts and abilities; we are all unique and we all have areas of ‘expertise’. Some of us have learnt to put the wrappings to the side and open the real gift; these people are passionate and driven, they act with a real sense of purpose.

Passion

When you find your ‘calling in life’ and you find the fired up passion; you are determined to achieve the outcome nothing can stop you. Often right there that is your gift, some people their gift can be physical (sports and the like), others can be creative (arts and entertainment) nothing says it is right or wrong; because it is your gift and you will find a new energy.

If you are passionate and you can use your passion in a work place to make money, you’re on a winning note. Not all gifts link into work, more often than not you can be resourceful and find a way to use it in the workplace.

Understanding my gift

Some people I have met have a passion and care for people, they want to help others. This is a gift which is almost a personality gift, it’s something you can use in a workplace but passively. If you are passionate about a sport for example your gift is something you do as your ‘work’ parse.

Gifts can have different methods of use, it combines with our interests; we see some sportspeople who are very gifted at their sport; but they are also passionate about children and their health and fitness. While others are passionate about cancer awareness and other health issues.

Using it for good

We often have our gift but the way in which we use the gift and it bringing you happiness and fulfillment are different to another’s. Who’s to say using it that way is wrong? We look at a gift like leadership, there are and have been so many leaders in history who have used their gift in a negative and inhumane way, they have instilled fear into others.

I believe heavily in not judging other people and their choices; until it brings harm or hurt to another person or group. For example: a toy hammer for a child it can be used as a hammer for play building or as a weapon to hit others with. It is with mentoring, honing and understanding the ways we can use our gifts and which way we want to use them.
